Happiness, Made Personal
The calendar flips to the last day of October and the pace threatens to run away with us. Before the holiday rush takes over, we hit pause and ask a simple question: what have you done for your happiness this year? Not the kind people expect to see online, but the kind that feels calm, quiet, and deeply personal.
We explore practical ways to make joy easier and more frequent amid real life. From gratitude journaling and mindful nature walks to quick calls that strengthen friendships, the focus is on small, doable habits with outsized impact. We celebrate students and lifelong learners pushing through deadlines and certifications, and we honor the pride that comes from showing up for yourself. Then we stack tools that work together—volunteering for meaning, creative hobbies as self-care, trying new recipes that turn routine into warmth, and a digital detox that lets your mind breathe again. Seasonal touches like pumpkins, cider, and careful ice skating remind us to savor what is right in front of us.
To move from ideas to action, we issue a clear, friendly challenge: pick any three habits and commit to them for seven days. Write them down, set reminders, and keep the steps small enough to repeat. Try one sentence of gratitude each morning, ten minutes outside each afternoon, and one thoughtful check-in with a friend. Layer in affirmations like I am capable, I am enough, I am growing, and close the day by reading a good book. Sixty days remain in the year, and each one is a chance to choose presence over pressure and peace over perfection.
If this resonates, share it with someone who needs a calm reset before the holidays. Subscribe for updates, send us your topic ideas, and leave a review to help more people find a gentler path to joy.

Welcome to the Motivational Fear podcast. I am so glad you're here. I hope you're having a great day. It is the last day of October and we're heading into November with a fresh mindset. With this weekend, it's daylight savings time on November 2nd. So your clocks will go back an hour and make sure you check your local time. Maybe you get an extra hour of sleep or you're just waking up to reflect on the days ahead. Either way, with this episode, it's about happiness, your happiness. So I just want to check in with everyone before the holidays. So let's talk about happiness. Not the kind that's forced on you, it's just the kind of happiness that is personal, which is quiet and meaningful, and its approach to the holiday season. It is easy to get caught up in the rush, such as shopping and planning and socializing. But before all of that, I want to pause and I want to have you ask yourself, what have I done for my happiness this year? Not for others, not for appearances, just for you. There are only about 60 days left in 2025, and that's 60 chances to enjoy your peace, your joy, your fulfillment, and have you been moving so fast that you notice that you're not making yourself happy. So in this episode, it is your invitation to slow down and check in. So before we take that look into happiness, I definitely want to give a shout out to everyone that's in school, all of our students, young, older, if you're going back to school, really pat yourself on the back because it is great for you. Whether you're in high school, you're in college, you're giving a new certification, re-certification. This is for you. I know it's hard. I know the deadlines with the pressure and balancing everything, but you're doing great. You're showing up for yourself, you're giving in your best. So pat yourself on the back because you deserve it. You're building your future at one class at a time. So let's look at defining your happiness. So it is personal. So what does happiness look like for you? Is it sitting with a loved one or watching the leaves change? It can be a solo, walk in nature, just a quiet moment while you're looking at a book or you're dancing in your kitchen to your favorite song. Happiness doesn't have to be loud, it doesn't have to be shared, but if you want to share it, you can tag my Motivational Fuel podcast and pass it on to 10 friends. So let's build a ripple effect of joy. So, some happiness habits. So let's talk about these practical ways to boost your happiness. They can be simple, doable, and powerful. So you can do your gratitude journal. I do have a gratitude journal on my website. You can spend a few minutes each day writing down things that you're grateful for, it can shift your mindset. You can grab a custom journal on my website, it's designed just to make everyone easy going, and you can be joyful with these nature walks. You can step outside and just focus on the breath of fresh air, let go of distractions, and be present, and you can connect with friends, so you can do like a quick call, meaningful bonds, and don't wait for that perfect moment, just reach out. You can even volunteer so giving back, which is a powerful tool to feel fulfilled. Um, you can speak to others, offer time, some creative hobbies such as painting, writing, singing, building things, their Lego sets, whatever lights you up, and creativity is self-care. Maybe try cooking your new recipe or trying out a new recipe. Um, you can try this with your family members or just try it in your kitchen, it can be fun and nourishing and a great way to unwind. And you can set some small goals, such as your wins, which is big confidence, choose one thing you want to accomplish this week and go for it. So the digital detox for a day, let your mind breathe. You'll be surprised how refreshed you can feel. So your seasonal activities, embrace the moment, maybe carve a pumpkin or set some pumpkins on your front porch, some cider, maybe go ice skating. Be careful when you go ice skating, and celebrate the season. So some positive affirmations, which is starting your day with words such as I am capable, I am enough, I am growing, and really read a good book. When was the last time you read a great book? You can escape into that story, learn something new, and a book is a great way for inspiration. So here is your challenge for this week. I want you to pick up three of the habits that I just shared and commit to them in seven days. So the habits go back to them: gratitude journaling, nature walk, mindfulness meditation, connect with your friends, volunteer, creative hobbies, you can cook or try a new recipe, set some small goals, a digital detox, seasonal activities, positive affirmations, and read a good book. So commit to three of these for over the next seven days. Write these down, set a reminder, make it happen, and remember happiness isn't a destination, it's a practice, it's a choice and a mindset. So I hope you are enjoying this podcast. Remember to share it with others. The upcoming topic, I will be sharing some updates regarding the topics for this year, other topics that's coming up. So I want to make sure everyone is really enjoying the podcast. If you have some topics you want to share, definitely let me know. So we do have Veterans Day that's coming up, so I will share an update regarding Veterans Day. So thank you so much. I hope you have a great day. Thanks for listening to my podcast, and make sure you share with others and take care of yourself. Thank you.
